Have you noticed I’ve been cooking more lately? My kids are always hungry! Both my boys are pretty picky about different things, so it’s hard to find recipes they can agree on. But I’ve been having fun testing out new recipes.
The following 6 kid friendly recipes have been tested by me and kid approved by my 2 boys (ages 12 and 13). They are not complicated to make.
If you follow me on Instagram, you know that’s where I hang out. I post on Insta-stories throughout my days about many subjects – food, style, charity projects, family…ok, yes – pretty much my whole life!
What I love about watching other people on Insta-stories is that it makes me feel like I know them personally. I love being a ‘fly on the wall’ to see into the lives of others and often get inspiration from doing so. I hope I can sometimes do that for you!
I often share “whats for dinner” and link the recipe of what I’m making on the stories as I’m experimenting, so visit me there to get good ideas in real-time! I mean, don’t feel pressure to follow me but, that’s O-Z-O-F-S-A-L-T on instagram.com (Hehe). But seriously, it helps to get support from you on social media as the sponsors for my charity projects pay attention to this! I’d love for you to tell a few friends who may appreciate my content.
Now, back to the kid friendly recipes.
Ultimate Chicken Fingers
I don’t think I’ve ever enjoyed chicken fingers (recipe here) so much before. The breading was fresh, tasty and healthy enough for the whole family. I will make this again this week. One modification I made to the recipe to make it taste even better: I added 2/3 cups of panko bread crumbs to the mix for a crispier crust.
Fettucine Alfredo
This Fettucine Alfredo Recipe is great to serve on its own or with chicken. It is quick, you can substitute the whipping cream with milk if you want, and it’s likely you already have the ingredients at home.
Shells and Cheese
I make this Shells and Cheese Recipe quite often for an afternoon snack or dinner side for my kids. It’s tastes much better than Kraft Mac n Cheese but is just as fast to make.
Korean Flank Steak and Cucumber Salad
This Korean Flank Steak and Cucumber Salad recipe is one of my favorites. It’s a great meal to serve for guests too. I love the pairing of the tangy cucumber salad with the sweet flank steak. Everyone will love this one.
Lasagna Rolls
A lot like regular lasagna, yes. But this seems easier to make. It doesn’t need to be as perfect, either. I omitted the spinach because my kids pretty much reject anything green. I’ve made this a few times, and everyone in the family loves it. Note: I substitute the sauce recipe with Raos brand marinara. My post titled 4 Quick Meal Recipes for Busy People discusses why I love Raos.
Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup
This Chicken Noodle Soup Recipe is on regular rotation at my house. This past winter and spring have been rough in our household with colds and flus. There is a huuuge difference between canned and homemade chicken noodle soup! I love making this soup with egg noodles. I like to improvise with the veggies in my fridge (I add more carrots and sometimes I add broccoli to the adult servings). This one takes a while, but mostly just inactive cooking time where you need to be near the stove. I like to freeze some broth to use as a base in the future for flavoring steamed vegetables.
I know you will love these kid friendly recipes! I can’t wait for you to try them and let me know what you think.
