One of my goals for 2019 is to have strong mentors to learn from. In my recent post, Our time is our most valuable asset, I wrote about how it’s important to spend our time wisely with people who inspire and support us.
I’ve learned how valuable good mentors are, but these relationships are hard to find. It’s a good thing, though, there are many personal growth coaches at our fingertips online. I thought you may want to join me in utilizing these established mindset coaches to be our “mentors” as we continue to work on adding in-person positive role models to our lives.
What we consume makes a direct impact on how we think. Personal growth coaches can be a powerful infuence to help us become our best selves.
I remember sitting in a blog conference (Mom 2.0) last May listening to our keynote speaker, Brené Brown, for the first time and being blown away. I left the conference bursting with inspiration and listened to all of her books. Come to find out, it seemed everyone already knew who she was except me!
So, in case you don’t know about these popular mindset authors/speakers/coaches who are wildly successful at their craft, this post includes a list of personal growth influencers I am researching and learning from in 2019.
One thing to note, I am a big fan of Audible (audio books) monthly membership which your whole family can share. I am often in the car or doing chores … I love listening during these tasks. note: the Audible links are affiliate links which means I will make a small commission when you purchase these items, at no cost to you. Thank you in advance for your support!
1. Brené Brown
Author, public speaker and research professor Brené Brown, Ph.D., has spent years studying courage, worthiness, shame, and vulnerability. Her TEDx Talk on the power of vulnerability is one of the top five most-watched of all time, with more than 31 million views. The following are my favorites books of hers, which on a scale of 1-10, I give a 10!
Rising Strong (my book club’s read this month)
A few girlfriends and I are going to hear her speak at the end of January on her “Call to Courage” tour in Los Angeles. Woot! We are so excited!
2. Rachel Hollis
I listened to Rachel’s book, Girl Wash Your Face last summer and enjoyed it (I’d give it a 7 on a scale of 1-10). I felt like I was listening to a girlfriend and find Rachel to be exceptionally relatable. She is a thirty-something food blogger turned inspirational speaker/author/podcaster and 2018 was her year where it seems Rachel “tipped” in popularity. I recently stumbled upon her Rise Podcast. and spent a day going through almost all of her episodes, which I loved (an 8.5 rating)!
3. Brendan Burchard
His latest book, High Performance Habits, is a Wall Street Journal best-seller and one of the three best business and leadership books of 2017. I’m listening to this book now and finding it very helpful for mindset and productivity. He has several online personal development courses with the Oprah Winfrey Network and holds personal development conferences each year. His podcast is called The Brendon Show.
I like that he isn’t as intense as Tony Robbins and that much of his work is based on case studies. Most of what he discusses are things we already know. But he frames his points in a way that makes me re-think the topics as it relates to my life and makes me want to improve. I am about halfway through his book and have listened to one season of his podcast. My rating is an 8.5.
4. Mel Robbins
The creator of the popular “5 Second Rule,” Mel Robbins is a CNN commentator and motivational speaker. Listen to her TEDx talk to get a sense of her personality. I haven’t yet read her book, but it is on my list. I enjoy her inspirational posts on Instagram which give me something to think about each day.
I can’t imagine there being a person in the world who wouldn’t benefit from at least one of these four personal growth coaches. They have different personalities and are different ages but they all have this in common: They will inspire you! Check them out. I’d love your feedback!
Cheers to a great start to the year. If you enjoyed this post, check out my blog post, 7 sure ways to master a growth mindset.
