Being trapped in the house this year, we can use all the home decor excitement we can get! Who’s with me? Janiece Cotrell purchased and styled a bar cart for my home that made me giddy! She’s written a post to help you make your own Bar Cart creation! Enjoy!
Style a Bar Cart for the Holidays
Bar carts come in many different sizes and styles. From wood, wicker, metal, to acrylic. They can be used for many things like holding plants, food or for it’s original purpose… drinks! In the 50’s it was in-fashion to have a bar cart in your home. You know, Hub’s walked in the door and was given a cocktail and slippers. In the 60’s and 70’s they were popular to have in business offices. By the 80’s and 90’s, bar carts seemed to have vanished. But, now the bar cart is making come back in the home.
A bar cart is fun way to spruce up any space in your home. Do you have space in a sitting room or off the kitchen? Maybe you have a formal dinning room or a free corner in your home office. A bar cart is great for outdoor space too. Bar carts are fun, fresh, and invite people to gather ….to sit, sip, and to enjoy each others company. We styled Jen’s cart for her home office and to wheel out to the patio for socially distanced get-togethers. Photos show the cart in her living area, but you’ll get the idea.
How to Create Your Inviting Bar Cart
1. Purchase a Cart

3. Style Your Cart
Look for some colorful decor to add to your cart; a tray, coasters, cloth napkins, a candle, pumpkins and Fall flowers (dry or fresh) with a beautiful vase.
Next, fill your cart with the bar essentials you purchased above; Pourers, Shakers, Bar spoon, Bottle/Wine opener, Jigger for measuring, ice bucket – don’t forget the ice!
Bring out that beautiful glassware that you have been hiding in a cabinet since your wedding. Put out couple of wine glasses and some tumblers too!
Also, when selecting what to drink and with what drinks to stock your cart, make sure to have a selection of wines, beers and mixed hard liquor. Keep in mind not everyone drinks alcohol so, be sure to have water and/or some lovely tea on hand.
We found all of our items around the house. Look around and see what you’ve forgotten about all of these years!
The key is to have fun with styling your bar cart. Bring in your personality, use your favorite items in your home that invoke great memories. You can share your stories with guest of when you got the pieces or reminisce with your family!
