I have been getting eyelash extensions for 10 years. Ahh! Yes, 10 years. Is it worth it? YES. It is one of the few things I do every 4 weeks religiously and CANNOT live without.
I tried a few places, but once I found Misun (contact info at end of post) about 8 years ago, I’ve never gone elsewhere. I travel every month to Koreatown in Los Angeles and spend 2.5 hours getting a wonderful collagen facial and eyelash refills. It takes me about 40min-1 hour each way, but it’s worth it. This post will focus on my lash extensions, but I love their facials just as much.
Important Points About Eyelash Extensions
Natural Look
I love that Misun and Ellie’s lashes look so natural and no one can ever tell my lashes are extensions. I am sure we all know people who get extensions that look like spider legs pointing in different directions.
Caution to Allergies
At the first visit, Misun/Ellie will put some test lashes on to see if you have an allergic reaction to the glue. They ask their customers to come back in a few days for the full lash extensions once they get confirmation there was no irritation to your skin.
Procedure Time
The visit takes about an hour. They are very good with their fingers. You barely feel anything as they are glueing the extensions one by one.
How Do They Do It?
They use prongs to pick up each lash extension, dab it in black glue and then apply it on your existing lash. They get very close to your lash root but usually don’t touch your skin. Can you imagine how meticulous and patient one has to be to do this?
Rules with Extensions
It is important not to touch your lashes. And when showering, try not to get water on them, at least for the first 24 hours. The more you leave your lashes alone, the longer they will last. Once you have extensions, it is important not to wear mascara. You won’t need it. You CAN wear eyeliner and eyeshadow.
Benefits
I wake up in the morning and don’t need to put anything on my eyes. They look bright and youthful. No fuss needed and NO maintenance.
Maintenance
I use Latisse every few days to strengthen my real lashes underneath. After a while of having extensions, your lashes do become weak and it is important to condition them with strengthener. Tip about Latisse, dab on your fingertip to apply instead of using their brushes. The bottle will last much longer.
Before and After
These pictures remind me that I will ALWAYS refill my extensions. What a difference!
Misun has space within a Hair Salon called Edgy. If you want to reach her direct for an appointment, call Misun’s private business number is (213)798-1527. The Cost before gratuity is $150 for first time extensions. Refills every 3-4 weeks are $50-100, depending on type and amount of lashes needed (ex. if most have fallen out since the last time, price likely $100. Or if you would like extra full “double” lashes, price likely $100).
Will you try it? Do you already get extensions? Once you go to Misun you won’t go elsewhere. But don’t take all her appointments because I need mine each month too!
